We may have beat you on the 1" thing....
We modified an  Ampex AVR-2 interface on our online CMX 300 to run a Sony BVH1000 (serial #25) before SMPTE had standardized to Type C. That machine had to go back to Japan to be made a Type C machine and was in service on a CMX OMNI up until 2001!

Back in 1977, I had the privilege of learning multi-machine linear editing
on the very first system in the US to utilize 1" VTRs with a CMx controller.
It was a CMx 50 (which, back in the 70's was considered an offline setup
used to drive Sony 3/4" machines), heavily modified to work with Sony Type A
1" machines (predecessor to the beloved Type C 1" machines).

It was at A&G productions in San Diego. I even remember the spot we were
practicing editing... It was for First National Bank. "We're the Best!"
I can still sing the lyrics to the jingle. (Give me enough Schlitz at
Yolie's, and I might perform it for you) Funny how some memories never go
away, while I can't remember what I had for dinner last night.

After that it was machine to machine cutting on IVC-9000 2" helical
machines, but that's another story.

This thread now reminds me of doing repro before desktop... Oops wrong
color, back to the darkroom.

Are we done yet? What a pack of dinosaurs you all are.
