Title: RE: what happened to this show? (crashes, failing to render, out of memory, etc)

I wasnt looking for help, Ben. I just wanted to share a nice technique that allows for a preset to be used anywhere which uses media ( as long as the other machines have the same access to the same network ).

>>Also, I had to make a custom preset that anyone could use, in any room, in any project that required a quicktime that existed on the network, so the only way it could be done without importing or linking, was to bring it in through the grpahics effect, then my tree was saved as a preset and immediately worked everywhere.

Okay, but you must realize that there is no magic: If you have a self-contained entity that doesn't point to any external media file, then

it has to be persisted in the preset and/or sequence itself. If you have many of these large objects, then your sequence will become huge.

As someone else pointed out, best way to manage this is to split the work into smaller pieces.

    Hope this helps,

    Ben

I thought importing into graphics was the accepted way of getting stills
into a show without converting them to the project resolution.  But now
that you mention it I vaguely remember being told during training (1.5
years ago) that if you linked them they would come in at full rez.  I
guess that explains that.

Also, I had to make a custom preset that anyone could use, in any room, in any project that required a quicktime that existed on the network, so the only way it could be done without importing or linking, was to bring it in through the grpahics effect, then my tree was saved as a preset and immediately worked everywhere.
