Bodgan,

Thanks for the note.  I'm confused as to why it would be 4% longer??  Would you still need a timewarp then??

And how are people dealing with the audio pitch??  Maybe a remix from protools??

Im actually out today, but will be in tomorrow to iron this stuff out....Thanks for the help!!

Hi Scott,

Graham's suggested workflow is the best as it does not introduce any picture artifacts(1 to 1 frame relationship) and it's real time from start to end.
There are 2 downsides though, they may or may not affect you:
-program duration is 4% longer
-audio pitch will be lower(I would say noticeably)

For your HD master, the deck doesn't need the PullDown board. But for the SD version you'll need it, unless you're happy with the DS downconverted output(lame at best).

Thanks for the info...we are getting the deck in today.....It's supposed to have all the bells and whistles...we'll check it out.....Looks like this might be a better solution and less render time.....as long as the deck can ! do it?? Should be in any minute now.......

Hi Scott the F500 will play the 25psf at 24 or 23.98. Set DS up to control
the VT as a F500 23.98 and set the machine to play back 23.98.
You can now capture at 23.98 no render you should be able to use the DS
pulldown to create a 29.97 sequence if required.
I have just done all be it with a D5 deck as far as I remember the F500 does
the same all though it will not do the pulldown to NTSC with out the option
board fitted.

You may be better off looking into a UFC (universal format converter) if
you're company has the $$. Of course, only if its a long format.

Or by all means, capture 25, note the FFOP to LFOP, start new 23.98
sequence, drop in the 25fps seq to the 24seq and timewarp to the total run
time. Pitch the audio (not sure of all the settings here) . Then do all your
new edits in the 24 (23.98) universal format master sequence (get that?) and
you'll be good to go for any other format you need to output to.

Hope that helped.

Marc
