This might have been resolved by now but can you try from the Media Tool
to check if the media also have problem displaying for both projects?
You might face some media corruption. You can try the "Verify Media"
options to reveal those problematic files.

Subject: Purging Problem
I am currently having a purging problem, I have 2 projects where if you
go into the purge dialog it will not display the media for the project.
I also claims that my audio drive and one bank of video drives is
virtually empty. If you try to bring up the purge list it crashes about
20 gigs into it. Another funny thing that happens in these projects is
that if you switch media drives the is a large delay when you switch.
All Media is on line and in all other projects none of this happens.
Anyone got any ideas??? I need to purge this project but obviously I
dont want to have it harm other projects.
