Subject : Sending Media and Project Remotely
Folks,

We may be asked to capture media into a DS Nitris v7.6 system and FTP both project and .gen files to a location on the West Coast, where the project and media will be restored on to a DS Nitris of identical software version. Why? HDCAM Sources are here in New York where SD and HD dailies are prepared, whereas editorial and online is on the West Coast.

This is a snap in Media Composer land: send bin plus the OMFI Media Files folder. In DS world, I've only sent along projects in the form of an archive, but not media.

Is it as simple as archive the project, and copy to a drive the .gen files that are associated with the captured clips? Or is there some other recipe needed to send the actual raw media along to ensure it re-links with the project once restored?

Simple question I realize, but due to very tight time constraints, I'd like to get some feedback on where I might bump into any technical nuances.

Many thanks,

Matthew Schneider
