Thanks!

Most of the tracking is 3D tracking, some is Monet, and some is DS. Some tracking was made in DS with a simple trick, as all the scenes have a 3D track, I just rendered a simple grid with a checkerboard texture in the place where I want the object and then I tracked that texture. And for the screens that goes from shot to shot, I used 2 separate tracking and then loaded the animations curves of the second part in the first one and then manually adjusted the transition between the 2 curves.

Good eye for the reflections!!! The reflections of the 3D elements were rendered in 3D too, but all those screens where rendered on many passes to be able to adjust every aspect without having to re render all again, Then the reflection of the people on those screens is made in the DS. Those screens have separate layers for the diffuse, specular, ambient, reflection, global illumination, and texture. So was a 3D render but the final look was controlled in the DS.

The 3D software was MAX, (I’m a XSI lover, but $$$$$ has decided for me, sorry) because I needed a lot of rendering power and setup a renderfarm with 3D MAX is less expensive and global illumination is easier to control with Final Render that with XSI, at least for me.

There is one 3D object that is 90% DS, and that one is the glass in front of the technician in the lab, that was made using Tinder plugins.

Wow!!!

Eye-popping perfection! Congratulations, man.

A few (very humble) questions from a DS editor in Spain:

Was all the tracking done in DS?

I noticed some excellent recreations of light and element reflections on the background screens, where they done in DS as well?

What 3D app was used, I'm guessing XSI?

Once again, amazing work!

I just got permission from the client to show this, I’m very proud of this job and DS was a great part of this job. I’m working on a decent making of and a case study for those who may be interested in to know the steps I have to go thru to get to the final result.
