The old limitation was not QT (afaik) it was AVI which had
a 2GB limitation.
Your problem, however, sounds like the old 24bit vs. 16bit
problem. If your sequence is 24bit and you output a file or even a
reference file, I believe you won't get any audio because QT and AVI are
expecting 16bit audio. Go into your sequence and change the sequence pref
for audio to 16bit - reoutput your ref file and you should be
fine.

So, I made a quicktime reference of a
7:16 video to take into Cleaner to make an mpeg for approval. But, lo and
behold, I realized there was no audio. Now, I'm hearing that this is
an old limitation (or bug) of the quicktime reference where you can't go past a
certain length (anyone know that length?) that actually got a little worse with
the last version. Is this being worked on or is it not a priority for any
upcoming version?
