Title: "Archive Operation Failed"
Jason,

I've run into this once before in version 5 and it was a corrupted clip in the timeline. When I deleted the clip the archive then worked.
On a similar note I got a corrupted sequence on V 7.6 and was able to find the offending clip (the timeline froze when it tried to play past that point), and replaced it and the sequence worked again.

Good luck.

Thanks Murf,

I've been archiving all day.  So I don't think it's a tape issue.  I've tried different tapes.  I've closed the DS.  I've rebooted the system.  And still nothing.

Thanks for the suggestions tho.

Hi Jason,

Check to make sure that you've got communication to the deck on which you're archiving.  Typically the failure is that it tried to cue up the tape but couldn't communicate with the deck.  Therefore, it cannot do as requested and you get a "Archive Operation Failed."  Also make sure the tape is striped properly - I'm not sure if there is anything there.  My projects are always DFTC and my archives are always to DF tapes.  Don't know what other people are doing - just a thought.

Hey all,

I've searched the archives and can't find a answer on this issue.

I have a project that I'm trying to archive.  First of all I noticed that all of my audio is gone for some reason in the project.  Not sure what happened, might have been my screwup somewhere.  I decided to try and archive it anyway without the audio (probably won't ever need the project).  So I have the video and audio option selected.  When I click archive it backs up the metadata and then before the tape prompt comes up I get an error message that reads "Archive Operation Failed".  That's it.  My only option is to click OK.

Couple things I've tried (with help from the archives)
I tried just the video.  That didn't work.
I verified the media and everything seems fine.
The source model names are not out of control.  They don't top 120 characters.
I copied the main sequence that I want to keep into another project (new project) and I get the same result.

That's all I can come up with.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I'm on 7.5 QFE4

Thanks in advance.
