Someone was asking how to decompose a sequence on the Avid DS forum. I
figured out a way although I may be reinventing the wheel. This is all
speculative, untested but it should work.
Convert the sequence to EDL. Don't even bother saving the lists. Just
conform them right back to a folder of your choice. Set "create logs"
option only and desired handles length. If your media is still on the
drives (i.e. deleting clips but not purging the media) the newly created
clips should reestablish links to the media.
