Can you have drives that approved but not certified? Our system is an approved system even though the drives are not Avid certified.  But in answer to the original question - I don't know if those fit into and approved category either.

If they do not say AVID then they are not certified.  The only exception to the rule is Intergraph, but it depends on the version of your DS.

Avid only certifies storage that they have control over.  In theory drives are the same, but Avid tweaks the drive and tests it to its maximum performance.  Then they know what to expect from it, and therefore where its failures are.  Without it being tested, the failure point would be yours to find.

Hey all,

We have some drives sitting around at one of our facilities.  They are Compaq Proliant ML370 rack mountable drives.  One of our new IT guys seems to think they are Avid Certified drives that we could just throw on our DSs or our other Avid.  I don't believe this is the case but I wanted to check with the experts.

Anyone ever heard of these drives?

Thanks in advance.
