The idea would be to shoot 23.97-1080p, because this is really the
international format, from that format, no real issues arise, when you
do your versioning.
But you already have your answer, since they only have the budget, the
real question is 25P or 50i right?
I would go with 25p, because once in NTSC, it would look more "FILM",
than video.
Make sure you find a good place to transcode and if possible use the
"ALCHIMIST" to do the cross-conversion, I've use material from 50i to
NTSC and it look great, I really couldn't tell it was transcoded.

Hello All,
We're being asked by a client what frame rate to shoot at. They're
delivering to three different broadcasters at the following rates:-
UK Broadcaster - PAL SD
American B'caster - 720p/59.94 or 1080i 59.94
Canadian Broadcaster 1080i/59.94
It's been suggested to them they shoot 25P and then convert for the NTSC
frame rates. As 2/3 of the money is coming from NTSC land it would seem
to
make sense to shoot 1080P/29.97 but the camera they will be using only
shoots 25P or 50i.
So, what are the issues around converting to 59.94i from 25P and what
would
you guys recommend for the conversion process?
