Hi Guys,

I'm doing my first job as an online editor. The job is a 50min conform
from an adrenaline and i'm in a 720p 59.94 hd project. I have had some
serious issues with choosing the right deck template for this job and
i thought i would share my experience.

These are templates I have tried so tried so far (all decks must be
set to F1 for deck setting):
AJ HD3700- hardly worked worked when capture from timeline. ds would
roll pass in point and freeze on out point with nothing captured.

AJ HD1700-60 (template stolen from adrenaline 2.1.6)- worked much much
better however not all clips were caputed from timeline. I observed
the following:
DS expects 60 frame timecode (the afe from the offline was using the
HD deck ntsc downconvert for capture) and the panasonic decks ALWAYS
spits out 30frame timecode. So when ever a clip with a time more than
30 frame (ie 56th frame) comes up the ds rolls past the inpoint
freezes on capture. The only workaround is skipping these clips and
then labouriosly finding the timecodes then manually capuring from the
capture tool insuring to change the timecode to a whole number (ie
10:00:01:00). The offline clip in the timeline will relink to captured
media. I have literally wasted dozens of hours clearing up all the
missing shots with this method.

AJ HD2700_29- I've just discovered that this template seems to even
better (on my last 3 rolls :( but again not perfectly. Make sure to
modify it to F1 and all the clips come in. Maybe Sylvain has something
to add to this... does this template, as the name suggests, work with
30 frame code? and therefore to some sort of translation for the 60
frame master clips??? Also would you know if Avid are working on fix
for this as i have got a lot more 720p 59.94 work coming in and need
this to work perfectly so i can train edit assistants to conform the
material etc.....

Has anyone else on the list had similar experiences with Panasonic
decks and 720p 59.94 projects??????

Cheers
Jody
