Interesting conversation, as I've been doing a bit of research on this
lately. I think you'll find Monet/boujou/PFTrack (standalone trackers) are
going to be better than the built-in on FFI, and esp. on DS.
The FFI 2D tracking algorithms are marginally more accurate than DS, and
faster, but the way the data is handled, they are WAY more flexible.
Expressions in DS are helping the situation some, but the workflow in DS for
tracking stinks IMO.
FFI have a 3D (camera-type) tracker, DS has nothing close. Monet has planar
tracking, PFTrack and boujou are 3D trackers...the nomenclature is not
totally consistent across vendors.
Regardless, I don't think any full-blown compositing tool is going to have
as much tracking 'technology' as a stand-alone product dedicated to
tracking. If you want to play (with high-end tracking) you have to pay.
