Sorry everyone, we're always banging on about this stuff, but the worst thing about the DS is the small things that it doesn't do.
I'd like to:
Be able to select clips in the timeline according to various properties in common, i.e. tapename, or even one word in the clip name, and then copy an effect to all of them. I know that we've got source effects but without being able to later break down the association between the seperate effects it's almost useless. I've just onlined a very cutty music video which was shot in 3 locations. It meant stepping through, shot by shot, and copying my first colour correction preset onto each clip one by one. Why have I got to go through this in DS when it's possible in FCP.
Be able to remove effects from a group of selected clips, preferably being able to choose what kinds of effects you want to lose, e.g. DVEs or colour corrections. FCP can do this as well.
Be able to set separate clip colours to clips in the source bin that ripple through to the timeline. This is really useful. It makes navigating a long sequence so much quicker.
Also, clips with some or all their media "not available" should be highlighted in the timeline in some way. Presently this seems to happen with audio but not video. Also, annoyingly, in the bin, a clip loses it's red colour if it's got just 1 frame of media available to it. Maybe we can have two different colours to indicate the different status. Because of this, I've gone into an online with media not available messages popping up in front of the client.
Auto colour correction. I know it doesn't do a great job but it can often save you having to routinely setting black and white points on the three channels before you tweak it. If Xpress Pro can do it then so should DS.
I'll let everyone else talk about the important things like the 3D environment, expressions with graphics, particles etc.
