hey rich,
sorry if i'm confusing the issue. i select the clips i want to copy with ctrl click or shift lasso.
then i arm only the tracks where i want these clips to land. (i've mapped the All Tracks Live button to my keyboard which toggles between arming and disarming all tracks) then i tap the uppermost track that should receive pasted clips (this will be the top track that's armed or live)
then paste and you're golden. hopefully my instructions were a little clearer this time.
it does work every time if you stroke the beast just right. i did it 150 times on an ad campaign today.

Jay,I tried it and It still isn't working. On the timeline I was using I had 1 video track, 2 background tracks and 3 audio tracks. I tried touching the top video track and it didn't work.Any other thoughts?Rich ReynoldsDestination Studios

sux don't it. the hoops that i jump thru to defeat this evilness go a little something like this...arm only the tracks that you want clips to got to.set an in point if necessary on the record side.touch the timeline on the uppermost track that you armed.now paste or insert or overwrite.everything should patch correctly.i remember version 3 or 4 had a very elegant patching system.this one blows.j

Why when you copy multiple tracks, say v1 v2 a1 a2 a3. And then paste them the track patching of the paste doesn't stay the same? I'll get maybe one copy that is similar then try and do it again and v1 is routed to v2 and the audio tracks aren't in the same place.I know how to repatch before paste but I don't know why it changes it and makes me have to repatch.Does anyone know? Or better yet how to get DS not to arbitrarily do it.Thanks,Rich ReynoldsDestination Studios
