Also, some people have restricted access to the internet and can only send and receive emails and not browse the internet...

Wow, this is really too bad. The email-based format of this list is highly superior to using the Avid forum. Especially now that I just recently switched my subscription to Gmail, which is GREAT for mailing lists, like this.
Also, having the forum "moderated" will also be a drag. I can only think of one or two times when a user had to be "reprimanded" for getting out of hand with foul language or political ranting. We have self-policed ourselves pretty well, I think, over the years.
I already have an account on the Avid forum, but do not access it nearly as much as this list. This one is open on my desktop all day, alomost every day. I remember even suggusting we do this kind of switch a while back and remember getting many "NO WAY" responses. And all for good reasons, too.
How sad. Personally, I would be glad to PAY for what I get for free on this list!

Hello everyone,
Due to recent events with the Avid DS mailing-list and its fragility regarding virus infections and mail distribution stability, I have taken the decision to migrate this service to the more robust and secure environment of the Avid Community Forums.
The Community Forums on Avid.com <http://avid.com/> already includes an active list for Avid DS. I encourage you to open an account and participate.
Over 35,000 users have joined the forums since their launch November 2005. With volunteer moderators in all forums, there is a strong focus on resolving problems and working with peers.
You can register for the forums at http://www.avid.com/exchange/forums <http://www.avid.com/exchange/forums>
If you want to preview the Avid DS forum first, you can view posts at http://www.avid.com/exchange/forums/34/ShowForum.aspx <http://www.avid.com/exchange/forums/34/ShowForum.aspx>
Please join the Avid DS Nitris forum in the Avid Community Forums and offer your knowledge and help to the current participants. We can regroup our forces and keep a dynamic forum in a single location.
The DS(at)Softimage.COM mailing-list will remain opened for the next two weeks, after which it will officially close.
I'm looking forward to seeing you in the new forum!
