Title: Re: General announcement to all Avid DS mailing-list participants !
The forum at dseditors clearly demonstrates the problem with a web-based forum.  You only respond to posts when you have the time/remember to check it.

I stated my opinion on this when Schy and Ben Swenson were setting it up.

The new Google list works much better.

Tone :)

Hi Mark, Chris and Igor,

I signed up for dseditors and the only other person I saw there was Schy - that was maybe two years ago.  It's almost as slow as the Avid forum.  Answers by post almost mean waiting 24 hours for a response and you're lucky if you get a response that quickly.  The old listserv or this new google way is far superior.

Not a great forum, really. It has either just started or it gets very little use.

I wonder if we users can start our own list?

Hello everyone,

Due to recent events with the Avid DS mailing-list and its fragility regarding virus infections and mail distribution stability, I have taken the decision to migrate this service to the more robust and secure environment of the Avid Community Forums.

The Community Forums on Avid.com already includes an active list for Avid DS.  I encourage you to open an account and participate.

Over 35,000 users have joined the forums since their launch November 2005.  With volunteer moderators in all forums, there is a strong focus on resolving problems and working with peers.

You can register for the forums at http://www.avid.com/exchange/forums

If you want to preview the Avid DS forum first, you can view posts at http://www.avid.com/exchange/forums/34/ShowForum.aspx

Please join the Avid DS Nitris forum in the Avid Community Forums and offer your knowledge and help to the current participants.  We can regroup our forces and keep a dynamic forum in a single location.

The DS(at)Softimage.COM mailing-list will remain opened for the next two weeks, after which it will officially close.

I'm looking forward to seeing you in the new forum!
