 Seeing as I've only posted for beer and meat gatherings in the last year, I thought I'd chip in my $.02 here. I come here to praise DS, not bury it!

It's been 6 years since a cheery, guitar-wielding fella by the name of Dermot Shane dragged me away from my cozy little world in Media Composer-ville, to the wild unknowns of DS land. Little did I know how much impact on my career that move would have. I still owe him a Baileys on the rocks for that. It was version 3.1 and damn I loved that little blue box. In the first year, I rarely posted - partly from shyness, partly from experiences on other forums and user groups. I would soon learn that this DS user group was a different place.

People opened their arms to you here, and it was acceptable to like cheap American beer and wear horns. Over the years, my time on DS has waned, to the point now where I haven't touched one ... well not since last year's meat fest at NA! B. Yet like Lucas and presumably a few others, I have always remained subscribed and in the background, because I still learn so much through the eyes of everyone here, and because this IS the best forum on the planet, PERIOD! I may no longer have my hands on the best box out there, but at least I can live vicariously. I look forward to lurking on the new forum, and who knows if Schy needs a little help again with this year's MeatFest, maybe i can man the door!

I guess this is a long winded way to say thanks to everyone, the users, lurkers, and the sometimes maligned support people caught between a rock and hard place, but it's times like these that you reflect on your history together (me and DS) and smile at all the good that has come of it!
