yea, I have found little difference taking the omf thru MC to DS...
I go straight to DS with the FCP Omf Via Duck.

However...!!

I do have issues with the sequence length that I take across. For some reason
I occasionally need to chop up the sequence timelines to a short length like 10 minutes
to get them to come in to DS with out stuff missing.

It depends on how effx agressive the FCP timeline is.
With lots of Motion, TruType, Text, Jpg, VO From Files
etc. none of those clips, (or I should say, very few) ever come across.
Thus, eye match city for those sort of things.

But, clip names come across and multiple video trakcs and audio come across.
When going to an adrenaline, the audio rubber banding even comes acrsoss from what I have heard.

call me for more details...!!

Also, remember, this list is closing down on Wed
so the conversation will need to move to the googel list or off list after then.

Thanks Jim.
Cool. So no significant problems with OMF conversions
from FCP to DS?
(I assume you Automatic Duck export FCP to MC first
then OMF or AAF to DS?)

Any glitches or wierdness ever pop up there? (Other
than certain effects not transferring)

Hi Rich:

Yup, two fcp w/ one AJA IO, in house and some off
site, and one old abvb mc that spends 99% of its
time turned off.
good pros' and con's, feel free to call for extended
details.

Cettainly ove our DS, but my offline editors are so
good w/ fcp, that it just goes that way.
I have gotten very fast at eye matching dve's and
motion and live type graphics from fcp off lines.

We'll capture in house on our fcp system and then
our offline editor will come in and scoop the files
and project to a firewire drive, get a completeed
off line done at his place, and email me the XML
file on completion, AutoDuckin the OMF for DS,
Capture and import any targa anmimations, and
stills, and conform away.

Some projects just use fcp the whole way.
Occasionally I'll feed em a grpahic build from DS.

Our old MC mostly does occasional project or omf
translation services to feed the DS.

We are 98% SD, no HD yet. FCP is V 5.01. That G5
also does lots of DVD Studio Pro encoding,
Bravo-II Disk Publishing, Soundtrax Pro Mixing for
the DS, Etc.

Does anyone out there offer FCP at their facility
along with DS? As opposed to DS and another Avid
platform Adrenaline or Express Pro?

Just wondering about the workflow and how

successful

it's been for you.
I need and love my DS but looking ahead to the
uncertain future, I also want to incorporate and
develop a FCP suite in addition to the DS.

I am well aware of what each platform can do and
cannot do....I just want to get some feedback on

any

facilities that have this workflow in place.

Thanks in advance!

Rich
