Right... I'm trying to add a sfx to a button so that when the
mouse/dvd remote is toggled to the selection in question
that it makes a "click" which I have as a wav file.

Unfortunately you can't do that in DVD. The closest you can come would be to make an "outro" movie, which would be a timeline that contains the sound (and your menu imagery, or an animation if you want). Then, for the button on the menu, you link to the separate 'outro' timeline, and set the outro timeline's end action to play the timeline of whatever the button is supposed to play in the first place.

However, this is not instantaneous; the user will click the button, but it
could take up to a couple of seconds for the outro timeline to actually play
(and make the click sound).
