I have about 50k hairs, each with a geo instance,
total triangles ~20M.
When rendering (xsibatch -r), windows suicides
shortly after, while linux goes through with no problems.
However, when rayhosting on 2 extra linux boxes,
with either raysat or ray services, 90% of the times the rendering hangs waiting
forever, sometimes after a short percentage of the render has been done,
sometimes with just one tile missing from one of the hosts.
Both the master and the hosts go to sleep, cpus to
0%, memory still taken.
strace of the processes:
On the master, a series of gettimeofday() and
futex(...)
On the hosts, a series of gettimeofday() and
select(...)
The resolution is ~2K. If I render 500 pixels or
so, the render always succeeds.
Someone went through this already?
Tx. Stefano
