Go to the Geometry property Editor and turn the "stepping" of you polygon up rather then Polymesh/Subdivision. This is my preferred way to go as I can then chose to turn "view subdivision surface" on or off and it remains as one object.
OR, if you like having the surface and the control mesh as separate objects, use the Polymesh/Subdivision and then force the control mesh to display in "wireframe" and then turn "Override object properties" ON for each viewport.

Subject: subdevision question

Hi,

after using subdevision the hull is still shaded in shaded view. What's the
trick to display the hull as a wireframe in shaded view like Metamesh
Extreme does in SI3D?

Michael
