we just finished a project with two similar hairy
characters.
they both has the same topology, with difference in
proportions. (Father and Son of the same species)
We finished the hair settings on one of them,
duplicated the whole model, and remodelled the copy
into the new proportions, with slightly hair
changes..
you should know, that if you scale the model node,
even though the hair guides stay in proportion to the geometry,
it renders differently.. (we found out the hard way
:) )
I think this way would be faster than starting to
copy styles and apply shaders all over again..

Subject: transferring hair between
characters
Hi
list,
I'm transferring
some hair between two similar characters (same topology, slightly different
proportions) and am trying to save the hair out as a preset, but it doesn't
seem to save properly, and won't let me apply it to the new
hair.
Workflow so far is
to copy clusters from one mesh to the next, use the correct clusters to
generate hair from selection, copy style, and drag and drop materials from one
to the other, only thing left is the hair settings, which I can't get to work.
Any ideas?
Also is there a
simpler way to do this? Its a bit long-winded... Am I missing something
obvious?
Cheers
chaps!
