That was what I was trying to do, but newbie as I am, I wasn't able
to get it to work. Tried saving the Ptype and shader branch, and
loading them as well with no success.
HOWever, using one of Homams particle presets (emit from cube,
sphere, etc) and adding an emission, then deleting the old one worked:-)
so now I have spritz on my coke can without geometry and I'm happy.

Have you tried to use the menu item "Emit from selection"?
