This could well be what I end up doing. Why can't these
people pick a standard and stick with it. There's enough variations on these
damn things as it is without somoeone coming along and making another.

In a similar situation (not a notebook) I remember using bits of
wire, sticky tape, croc clips, and the little plastic bits inside a biro. Not
for the faint-hearted though...
