That was kinda what I was affraid off. I also got a suggestion to use a script to create an
initial state. I am affraid this won't work either because I need the mapping from a texure to
the initial particle color. 

Xsi is far ahead in a lot of ways, but I am affraid it's particles are still a weak point. I
once saw an announcement about thinking particles from cebad being ported to xsi. Does anybody
have any news on this? I use to love the system on 3ds max.
