yeah i am learning to live with it as this card came out after 4.2 so it isn't listed on the certified list either. it's just a pain in the ass. it's funny because now i just inherently save right before i hit the 0 key. how are things haven't seen you around in a while.

Bob -

my two cents on this:

I have a laptop that has a geforce 440go in it... that laptop would never open xsi 4.0 due to a problem with the gfx driver... i coul d never fix it... ever....i complained a bit..but soft could never repro the problem and never really had an answer for me.. other than trying out other drivers... which didn't work.. and i realized that i was running a non-certified card so.. soft couldn't do much.. so.. i lived with it..

on a whim.. i went and installed 4.2 recently... figuring maybe.. just maybe.. the same bug that caused the problems... was somehow.. accidently fixed.. and it was...

now i can run 4.2 on the same machine that would even open 4.0

weird anomolies...

thought i'd add.

Also happens with the dopesheet.

XSI is undoubtedly the most fragile of all the 3D apps when it comes to
tolerance to graphics hardware and drivers.

yeah its dumping XSI i get the "successfully saved scene blah blah blah"

error and then it locks up. i actually have to logout and log in to even

get xsi to run again.
like you said it only happens intermittently but it is driving me nuts.
i have to save everytime i want to open the damned animation editor.

Do you mean that XSI completely bombs out?

Yes, I have a GeForce GO 6800 Ultra and I have experienced the same
problem, though it seems to be intermittent and scene specific.

Frustrating as hell. Must be a driver issue. I also found that doing
captures will often lock up XSI, so I have resorted to rendering to
Opengl instead. Otherwise, the card is superb performance wise.

Hey guys,

I have a laptop with an nVidia GeForce GO 6800 card on it and I keep
having the damndest problem. I will be working
fine and then I go to open the animation editor and the system crashes.

I am running 4.2 (FND) on the laptop with WinXP Pro SP2
and the driver is 7.6.5.0. Just curious if anyone else has had this
problem or has a driver version recommendation that is working
well. Thanks.
