Non-rendered cylinder as an obstacle, probably?

Subject: particle swirl

Hi All,
I have some particles being emmited straight up (no spread) from a disk, and I want them to look like they're gently swirling around the y axis.
If I apply a vortex, they appear to be effected by centifugal force. ie.
they spin outwards, but I want them to stay within the radius of the emmiter disk.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
