Hello,
Python gradually made its way in our pipeline, to the point where now
we have several critiacal tool all python. Several of these tools are
self-installed custom commands placed in the workgroup.
The thing is that some users, at times, get errors and inconsistant
results. We all run the same code, we all have a very similar
configuration, XSI preferences are nearly identical for everyone (set
through workgroup), but yet some users are getting errors they should
not.
Here is a typical example. An artists clicks a button that calls a
self-installed command. This command creates a modal ppg, the artists
fills the info about his shot, and clicks ok. This command then calls
a bunch of ther self-installed commands, depending on what options the
user checked. There comes the problem: the command crashes because it
says one of the commands it is calling didn't have enough parameters
supplied. So I run the exact same thing on my machine, with same
options and such, and it works. The artists restarts its computer, and
it works.
That was just one example, there are two or three other typical
problems that arise like that.
The only potential cause I can imagine right is network intermittance
(wich seems to be occuring but I'm not sure). But I'd be interested in
hearing if anyone else had this kind of problems.
Thanks
Bernard
