Unfortunately it's a lot more than raw geometry data, for that I used
obj in the past as well and it worked well. But I was running into
problems just exporting to .xsi from 4.2 and reimporting that same
file into 4.2, it would delete the UVs on import. Not even to think
about going all the way to Maya...
I think I narrowed it down to texture coordinates not getting
reimported if the object doesn't have an image/texture assigned to it,
the UVs will be stripped. Unexpected and annoying, but I can work with
that.
