Within the layout you have siUICX to set absolute sizes, it doesnt work for everythig but yes for some things

forinstance on a button witin your layoug

    var butt = oLayout.AddButton("asdfa")
    
    butt.SetAttribute (siUICX, 200)
    butt.SetAttribute (siUICY, 200) 

If you want to pop a ppg of a given size you can do it creating a view
and putting the ppg within the view, and then the view can have
absolute size and placement. It is a bit of apain to do but if you
really need it, you can.

For the second question, yes, but I believe it would be better to
build the entire layout at once.

I like building highly dynamic ppgs, with callbacks that can change
the content, like removing/adding parameters and layout items. To
handle that, I usually put everything inside a big function, and all
callbacks simply call this function with the appropriate arguments.
Works very well. There is such a plugin lying around XSI Base, made by
Chinny, that uses this technique (wich I got from).
