Switch to what? Version 5?
We use XSI in Cinematics, but we are still on 4.2 for the current
production. The rest is primarily MAX with a few Motion builder
licenses here and there.

Andre, thank you, I will try your idea. Let's see if they care to deal
with an individual who's not planning to buy at all though.
Just to make things clear, it's not really an urge to put my hands on it
(well ok I admit it is), but more a questioning on how I can evaluate
the product.
And finally I think that's what trials are meant for...
By the way, did Ubi make the switch already?

Vincent,
If there is such an urgency to get your hands on the Advanced features,
perhaps you should contact the local reseller and get a demo lincese to
toy with.

Agreed Rob :)
Here's the link for others:

In case anybody's reading, I'd like to add something to my own thread.
I don't like ranting in general but hey it's my turn. I am really
affected by the decision of not putting RBDs in the trial.
I mean, it's a trial! I've been working on XSI for a looong time and now
I'm here on a Maya planet trying to explain my teammates why XSI will
rule the world and when it comes to fx (to which I am all devoted)...
nada. Not even a quick demo to show-off! Only the promise of a new
particle system and the so-called state of the art dynamic engine that
does everything, including fluids and muffins.
I'm pretty sure Softimage has came up with a killer RBD module in v5 and
I'd pay the Foundation price just to play with it. Ok, license the
particles also while you're at it, but leave all the character animation
features out (not because they're bad, obviously).
I thought Soft was aiming at taking back lost bits of the fx market.
Sorry for the noise. Again, I'm not complaining about the great prices,
just the marketting decision.
My two cents anyway,
Vincent

Hey Vinc,
Thanks for the link. I think the wiki is so new to people they have to
find their way to the website ;)
I like the ragdoll movie >:)
If XSI is gonna support the PPU card, interesting times are around the
corner for those who do a lot of simulations.

I'm surprised nobody reacted to this already.
