I find this a bit of a twisted logic.
pro 3d softwares and gfx cards have specific drivers and driver settings.
using settings for one software is almost certainly gonna give problems in
other ones.
i've never had much problems with XSI on quadro or geforce with softquadro,
with the specific XSI openGL settings.
Anything else than that, I wouldnt trust.
I remember switching to settings for maya or max was introducing interface
refresh problems in XSI.
a likely reason is openGL overlays, different softwares have different use
for it, some have problems when they're there others when they're not.
if you need all those softwares, perhaps you should change driver settings
in between sessions.
nVidia has shortcuts for this on their tray icon.
for XSI I keep my machine "clean", thats is a dedicated partition with just
windows, XSI and the necessary stuff.
I keep my c partition for crap/internet/...
and last but not least, I dont follow the advice of installing the latest
drivers.
Usually I install one, if its working fine, dont touch it for months or
years.
