I noticed that the search doesn't return most pages of the SDKdocs.
Also it seems that a lot of essential stuff is still scattered in different sections.
Let's say I want to list all properties attached to a particle object (SDK). Well, I had a hard time reaching this page: http://softimage.wiki.avid.com/sdkdocs/Particle.htm
The XSISDK category links to articles and scripting examples but hardly to the official object documentation.
For example, by clicking on the "Simulation - Particle" link (by Area), one would expect to find the Particle Cloud scripting properties but will end-up reading an article about Goal scripting.

On the "open source" matter, I don't think it's Softimage's responsibility to insure the integrity of the official documentation by cleaning-up the errors/vandalism.
Wiki is a great solution for gathering information though...
Consequently my vote goes for an open section, attached to each page of documentation while keeping a very clear distinction between the doc and the ressource articles (discussion?).

Hope this make sense. I love the wiki initiative btw.

P/s: Is it editable now? Haven't tried yet.

Hello Edna, thanks for the answer, I did not notice the links.

I am not sure what I ask makes complete sense but I think the integration of
the wiki and the doc should be much tighter.

If I have interogation about something today I will look at the doc first
because it is the richest source of info abour XSI and it is clearly
organised. But I will not stop there, I know many users find original
techniques and publish them somewhere on the web (tutorials, forum, wiki).
If I want a all the available info I need to search google.

Ideally I would skip google and find all the user generated info directly in
the doc. I don't think it is reasonable to ask you to put up to date
external links in the doc but the users could do it. Imagine the doc is a
wiki and we can edit it:
- Anybody writting a tutorial, shader, plug-in, etc. could set a link to is
own page in the relevant area of the doc
- Any relevant forum thread could be accessible from the doc
- People like Matt that are nice enough to write missing documentation would
actually edit the doc directly

The doc would become alive and your job will never be the same again... (he
he, I don't know if it would be good or bad for you personally...). Wiki can
work if they are supervized, as the owner of the doc it would be your role
to check the new edit and filter the crap out (vandalism, advertising, etc.)
