True, but there is also a pretty strong correlation between our salaries and the costs of proprietary hardware and software.
At one time folks doing 3D animation were thought as professionals by default, simply because access and training was so rare. Not necessarily the case anymore.
But then as everyone knows, it's my fault. Sorry. :-/
