This is possible.  Switch the animation source to external and give it a filename.  Offload the source.  This will write it out to disk.  Replace the source on disk with the new one and reload the source.  Voila, new animation with all the blends in tack.

Maybe I'm missing something this Friday morning but how can I update an anim clip that I have in the mixer with an external source that is saved somewhere else?  I have a clip in the mixer that I want to keep where it is and keep its blending weight but I want to swap it with another clip, internal or external.  Can this be done?  Also, for stored poses, is there a workflow similar to shapes where I can move my deformers or objects that are stored in a clip as a pose, adjust them, select the clip and the modified deformer and "update" it?  With shapes its nice to adjust your mesh, select your mesh and the shape source and "replace shape".  I'm looking for something similar to this but with anim or pose clips.  Thanks.
