eeeh... the # turns it off right?

duh.

I gotta stop posting about things I don't know about...

I had the same problem.

I got around it typing the port number at the end, and making a # in front... like this

#rendernode:7005

I still can't get it to render though!

What is the name of the service running on port 7004?

We have tried that already. Same thing happens. XSI crashes during startup.
All the ports are the same on all our machines 7004.

HI

You have to put the name of the computer followed by the port used
by the service on that slave.

AXIS7:7003
AXIS8:7005
AXIS9:7003

You need to open the SERVICES file on the slaves in
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc and check the port used by either the
satellite or mentalray service. It depends which license you have.

Hi Sebastien,

The .ray3hosts only has the names of the machines:

AXIS7
AXIS8
AXIS9

Hi Everyone,

We installed XSI 5.0 on our machines in the lab, and once we started using
.ray3hosts to setup distributed rendering, XSI crashes with "Failed to
successfully save scene" (which appears in two windows on top of each
other). If there are no machines names in .ray3host file, XSI starts up just
fine. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks,
