Hey Raffaele,
Thanks for the reply. Why XSI does what I stated now makes more sense
after your explanation. When piping a texture in, the Object view now
has something to work with and displays the texture without having to
focus the TE first.

that's what normally happens if you don't have an image attached in the 
rendertree, where unless the TE gets focus nothing is displayed (because

there's nothing to display infact).
are you having it with textured objects as well?
