Subject : geometry crashes FYI
i had been working for a while in a scene, its a building, i started on v4.2
everything was going alright, but now that i opened in v5.0
the thing refuses to render, just crashes. I debugged the scene hiding geometry
one by one and had located the bad geometry.

But what happened, still renders on v4.2 but crashes everytime on 5.0

on a side note, i had some unfreezed geometry with some move components and
all that, when i opened that scene on 5.0, the geometry was way too deformed
like if the point ordering changed. i had to freeze on 4.2 and then open on 5

are there some compatibility issues between 4.2 and 5?

The geometry comes from Autocad, then it was exported as .3ds
all the normals flipped out as you can presume.

But a friend give me a good tip that i will share, the bad thing is that
includes max in the formula. From autocad export the 3d geometry as DXF
then import into max with unify normals, then export as FBX, OBJ might work
also havent tried, and finally a model with correct normals. And best of all
no crashes at rendering on xsi 5.0

hope it helps to someone
