naw.. the tool should work right off the bat...
still haven't figured out a faster or better solution for the package shot
by the way.. looks like your hand tweaked weights are the ticket...

So I get it now... Right there in the manual.
To orbit or pan the camera after "Save Key on Path", you first have to
"Save Key on Path", then delete the animation and path constraint, then
"Save Key on Path" again, and everything will work.
I'm an idiot.

hey man... just tried out save key on path, and I have no probs with it..
It actually messed up the first time, in that the cam and interest were
locked to the path, but when I removed anim and tried again it was
fine... The lock to path option is turned off by default on my machine.

No, it seems to be unchecked by default on my system, Adam.
Is my computer the only one this is happening on?
After starting XSI, I select the camera,
Animate->Create-Path->Save Key on Path,
and then I can no longer orbit or pan the camera view.
The translation functions of the "z" key are also inactive.

OK, I know this is an RTFM but I can't seem to figure out where it
would be...
Back in old Soft3D days you could set a keyframe on a path for a
camera and then use the "o" or the "p" key to orbit or pan afterwards
to find a new location to set another keyframe.
Now it seems that the path constraint overrides that activity by
default. How do I switch the interface so that I can once again use
these keys to position the camera?
