So that explains the problem. Curves to mesh can change all the topology (order of vertices) based on a simple position change on the curve. There was probably a bug fixed in some curve operator (you have many that are active under the curve). In general we try to avoid to break the backward compatibility, however this one unfortunately wasn't catched before the release.
I would recomment to freeze the curvesToMesh and the curve in 4.2. This problem is a compatibility problem between 4.2 and 5.0, but not a bug for those that work within 5.0.

I'm just evaluating 5.0 at the moment, and tried loading one of my 4.2 scenes. Some of the polygon geometry with a construction history got screwed up. This to me is a pretty major bug as it means I can't abandon
4.2 yet. Here's an example:

In 4.2, both those meshes are identical, but in 5.0, the AddEdge Op seems to have had a different effect
