That's the one - just a couple more notes to add to it.
Switch off specular on the light and it should be pointing downwards along the Y axis.

Cheers,

It seems like hiding the lights and setting the ambiance to 1
works for our purposes... Thanx

you will get the ambience color though, not the diffuse.
if you allways set up materials to have same ambience and diffuse
its fine, but I rarely touch ambience ever.
there was this neat little trick that came up here some time ago,
I think by Alan Jones:
hide all lights
add 1 infinite white light, oriented along y axis.
add an override on the background partition, in the override add
bump_map.
bring up a rendertree of the override, plug in a vector_savestate
set to 0 1 0 (corresponds to the y axis)
voila!
constant diffuse pass.
I dont know if there are limitations to this, but its the most
elegant solution I know.

Bad instinct ... which scares me a bit ... age problem?

you can't set ambience on a pass or partition and the
ambience of the objects may not be, in fact probably won't
be, the same as the diffuse colour of objects.
As Dan points out, you can drive the scene ambience by
adding parameters to an object that can be placed into a
partition. Has to be some kind of geometry so you'll need
to hide it but what you do is place rgb custom parameters
on the object then express the scene ambience to them.
Then place the object into a partition and add overrides
to the parameters. (Thanks to Brad for that one)
the colour, that's a whole nother thing. Not sure about
that one.

Hide lights and set Ambient to 1,1,1 of this pass?

Hi.
I'm looking for a way to set up a constant pass... in
other words, a pass with all the color info but none
of the shading
Thanx
Gerbrand
