Thanks a lot Adam, that sounds like exactly what happened as I did cut the effector off.
Lesson learned :)

The model export method worked out fine.
Cheers, and thanks also for your excellent rigging series on 3dTutorial by the way !
Best wishes,
Dan

you probably cut an effector from its hierarchy, and then deleted it in a claenup stage when you were symmetrying.. and now XSI is having
a hard time blowing away its chain minus the effector..

sometimes, you can get a null, make the chain a child of the null, and then branch sel the null and delete the chain..
other times if that doesn't work.. get a model > parent all your objects under that model as children (don't parent in the problem chain)
and then export the model. Get a new scene and re-import the model.

Subject: Unable to delete Chain

Hi, I'm trying to delete a chain in my scene but am getting the following error :-

ERROR : 21000-EDIT-DeleteObj - Unspecified failure
DeleteObj "B:UN1_RightShoulderRoot"
'ERROR : - [line 3396 in C:\Softimage\XSI_4.2_Foundation\Application\DSScripts\uixsiscripts.vbs]

Arrrggghhh !

I'll explain what I did,
I made an arm chain and hand chain and used duplicate symmetry to obtain the other side.
Later I needed to adjust the bone positions, so I deleted the mirrored arm chain but left the finger bones alone, intending to mirror just the adjusted arm chain, since the hand was fine and I could parent it back in.
Well when I did this, something went wrong and now I can't delete it ??

Any ideas about how I can fix this ?

Cheers
Dan
