Check to make sure that your object is not excluded from the list of associated models for that particular light.  (Check the inclusive/exclusive setting for the light, and then check the "Associated Models" node in the explorer)  I'm not in front of XSI ATM, so I can't remember exactly how it works.

Besides that point light there is a spot light which acts rather
'normal' and as expected.

Ideas?
