Hi,

Thanks very much for this one!
But I seem to have problems running it.
Plugin successfully loaded but the toolbar has no buttons.
I installed dotnetfx.exe already.
What could be wrong?
Btw, we are running 4.2 at the moment. This plugin only for 5.0?
Thanks!

If you unwrap a head with Modo, the eye section and the ears are usually resulting in excessive manual reworking. The Lux tool is making it easy to advance quickly to a point which is also quickly reached when you unwrap manually (shudder). But then you have to detail the UV mapping manually... BodyPaint does a better job. But again, I use ZBrush generated UV maps which are distortion free but completely useless for any manual painting.

yap.
but it's angle based unfolding. there are pros and cons
for unfolding - I prefer spring based pelting as you can
foresee the results much better (imo).

Is this new unwrap tool for Modo also a form of pelt mapping?

well the weightmap thing I can do. the stretcher frame is
changable, as it is only a nurbscurve, so you can just
remodel it. the pelting is a deformer, so it is live at all
times.

unfortunately (remember our crappy downloading here) I cannot see the
second video to see other use.
Might there be "tension" and "topology retention" weightmap painting
and option for alternative stretcher frame shapes? :)

Thanks for the comments. I got the concept. BodyPaint and ZBrush

are

also
not really 'free'.
ZBrush does an amazing job with adaptive UV's. BUT you can't edit

them

in
anything else than a 3d painting program. Looks like a mad memory
puzzle...

I will definitely give the pelting a try, just to see how it works
in
comparison. Bodypaint has a 'auto pelter' build in. Works very

well

but

I
must say that Helge's videos made my jaw drop. We should collect

and

send
him a surf video!

8-)

Well what if you wanted to work in a 2d program like photoshop as

well

as
your 3D paint app. It seems that a pelt tool would produce a much
easier
UV
to work with in the 2D app. I dunno.

Helge you are unbeleavable.

Even if you surf like a girl....

curious.

is anyone having trouble with the second video?

the interactivity in the viewport while its unwrapping it self

is

very
impressive. also these tools look super easy to use can't wait.

Now a noob question.... I personally have not felt the urge to

pelt

yet... I UV/Paint my models either with ZBrush or BodyPaint and
never
came across the need to 'pelt' and texture in another app. What

are

the

benefits of the manual/automated unwrapping. I feel I am

missing

out

on

something....

hi guys,
