Hi Aloys,

now, unfortunately we don't try to load back the dotXSI export into XSI itself but into a custom converter on its way towards our game engine, which obviously doesn't come with a noicon.pic but with a crash in case it doesn't find associated texture files. Our current workaround is to modify that utility so that it does a pre-parse of the dotXSI file, replacing the noicon texture with something that is more accessible. However, this is a rather nasty workaround...

Nonetheless, many thanks for the suggestion!

Hi André,

The "good" thing is that when XSI doesn't find the "C:\Softimage\XSI_5.0_x64
\Application\rsrc\noIcon.pic" file, it replaces it with it's own noicon clip:-)
The "bad" thing is that it displays 15 lines of error before doing so...
What we did here is that we put the noicon file on a shared location, usefull for this kind of problems...

Good luck with that!

Aloys

    Hello everyone!

    We're currently looking into implementing dotXSI5 for our pipeline and
    I'm kind of stunned that there doesn't seem to be an option to
    copy all
    associated texture files into the export directory. Are they serious
    about this? As a result, in the export file you can find absolute file
    paths like this one:

    XSI_ImageLibrary {
        2,
        XSI_Image noIcon_pic {
            "C:\Softimage\XSI_5.0_x64\Application\rsrc\noIcon.pic",
            256,
            256,
            4,
            0,
            0.000000,
            1.000000,
            0.000000,
            1.000000,
            0.000000,
            0,
            0,
            0,
        }

    Complete desaster if anybody in the company wants to work with
    that file
    who doesn't have a 64bit XSI copy installed...

    Please, can somebody tell me that I'm missing the magic button
    here? Or
    any other advise on how to work with this mess? Cheers, and many
    thanks
    in advance for a few comments...

        -André
