Yeah, you can definitely get a lot of the towel animation by using
gator. You can build a simple biped rig and body from the ones that are
included in XSI. Animate those and bring over the animation with gator.
Then in order to make it look like a towel use a combination of XSI
cloth (not syflex) with a weightmap. You'll want to make sure that the
cloth node comes after the envelope node. Generate a weight map to show
what parts of the towel should simulate and what parts will just follow
the envelope. Then in your cloth node make sure that pin is selected
and connect the pin to your weight map.
I guess this doesn't really answer your questions though. Oh well.
Good luck,
matt

*Subject:* 3D Towel Advice
Hi Xsiers,
I need to do a running towel, and it's been a long time without
doing 3d, so here I have some questions:
a) For such a heavy cloth is worth using syflex?
b) Any advice on generating that kind of cloth with a low poly
cost ? I was thinking in different textures mixed with incidence
node, or using fur or short hairs, not sure.
c) Any reference or similar experience will be greatly appreciated!
TIA,
Nacho
