Not a comment on performance, but I'd go for each of them being a Model
on its own. This way you can easily share Mixer Clips among them, since
the bones will always have the same name (every Model comes with an own
name space). I doubt you will run into any performance problems due to
the overhead created by the models as long as we're not talking about
hundreds or thousands of them...

Hi guys,
What are the pros and cons in performance for XSI of having tons of
simple models vs having the objects in the scene root model?
The case is: I have 20 or 30 simple characters one in each scene
(really simple, like a toothpaste with a one chain skeleton).
Is it better to import them as Models to the complete scene, or is it
better to make them objects from the Root Scene Model?
Hope I wasn´t too messy in my explanation.
TIA,
Nacho
