The XSI browser does a few things for you that a standard windows explorer can't/won't:
-Sequences appear as a single container icon which is pretty handy for what we do
-Buttons provide access to some XSI default directories
Though there's been the occasional request for added functionality, it's been "good enough" for long enough. So it's low priority on the improvements list.
In the past, I've asked for the ability to rename/move/copy/delete sequences from the container icon.
I've also recently requesting access to the browser object via the menu anchors so we can hijack the existing buttons and add custom ones.
