Subject : 64-bit SPM gliches...
Hello all,

I just purchased a full version of XSI5.0 and a brand new dell with a 64-bit
windows XP operating system. My first full installation of XSI was
immediately successful. About a week later the SPM suddenly stopped and
each time I attempted to "start server", it immediately toggled off. I
re-booted multiple times with no success. I then re-installed the SPM and
again things worked fine. Last night, however, the error re-occurred and I
said to hell with it, didn't re-install the SPM, and turned the computer
off. Now this morning after a re-boot, the SPM is suddenly online and
working just fine. When the SPM has failed this message appears in the
spmstat window:

SPM_ERROR (C:\WINDOWS\system32\spm\spmstat): Can't connect to localhost
("mi-spm"[tcp/7050])
-- (SPM daemon is not running)

Any ideas what might be causing this glich?

Polite thanks for anyone's time and attention.

Chadwick
